In 2012 the SNCR Fellows will focus on the following topics:
- Content curation, aggregation, and implications for media and journalism models
- New virtual education models and the increasing use of social media technologies in education
- The fusion of advertising, marketing, PR, social media and content
- Blurring lines between personal and professional personas as the result of social technologies
- The emerging mobile enterprise (mobile computing, the cloud and BYOD)
- The evolution from the information era to the engagement era
- The use of gaming and artificial intelligence to break down cultural barriers and solve big challenges
- The "volunteer" business model phenomenon (Yelp vs. Consumer Reports, Wikipedia vs. Encyclopedias, peer-based customer support models)
- The emerging "social enterprise" and new models for corporate organization, decision making, business strategy development and governance
- Issues surrounding big data (access, control, storage, decision making, privacy, changing required skill sets for businesses to analyze/use data)
