  • Newspapers are a $190 billion industry globally, reaching 1.7billion readers daily.
  • Global newspaper circulation, including free dailies, increased 3.48 percent last year, and 14.1 percent over the past five years.
  • The total number of paid-for daily titles increased by 11 percent over the last five years, and by almost 3 percent in 2007.
  • The industry is expected to increase its advertising by 17 percent over the next 5 years, which is at a faster rate than the preceding 5 years.
  • Print remains the world’s largest advertising medium, with a 40 percent share.
